A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE FAMILY SCHMIDT
Schmidt, Edward, 1887g.r. lost his father early in the year of his father's death he was only 5 years, 7 years - his older brother. And even more younger: sister and two brothers (Emilia, David, Johann Christian) died two years after the death of his father, a one-year and month (9, 12,13 April 1894goda). What reason - is unknown. Edward's mother - Susanna gives his two sons on the education of one of the brothers of her late husband, married Edward Hahn of Glarus and moved into a colony of Glarus, in his new family. Eduard Schmidt began working with his childhood and early adolescence traveling to Samara, where he begins a new life. Develops from one of the Samara merchants sausage business, "is on its feet" and moved to Buzuluk Orenburg province. Unego had everything: family, good home, its production shop. He is the host, but NEP is over and he is in the salvation of their families are selling, buying a modest home, and all voluntarily surrendered to the state. He has to anticipate the bitter consequences of dispossession. But here and there ..., 1941, the war. In winter, the frost, in an unheated boxcar Schmidt family with year-old granddaughter, a patient with fever should be ... but where? They are exiled to the east of the Orenburg region, in Kvarkensky district, the village Urtazym. Later, his son Nicholas - into the labor army. Their own house in Buzuluk populated by other tenants. Only in 1944 they were allowed to return to Busuluk, but not in your home, family wanders through strange angles. A son, Nicholas went through all the hardships trudarmeytsa, but returned home only in 1953. The road home was long. She walked through Abkhazia (construction giving Stalin at Lake Riza), through the settlement Tyubukskogo forest area (Chelyabmetellurgstroy), across the Tajik SSR, the city Leninabad (construction Leninabad Mining and Chemical Complex, PO Box 325/23 Interior of the USSR). Each colonist Volga roads were different, but the gist - one and a destiny. Bitter.

Man with a Gun
Going battle eighteenth year. Young Soviet republic was clamped in a ring enemies of the revolution. Russian and foreign capitalists, landlords, kulaks and their hangers-on trying to eliminate the October gains of workers, to overthrow the government of workers and peasants, to strangle his bony hand of hunger from St. Petersburg and Moscow proletariat at the head of a people's struggle for freedom and happiness.
In the troubled summer twenty working Ferdinand Baumann carrying stand guard in the Kremlin at the Council of People's Commissars. Time was hungry. Bread ration did not exceed a quarter of a pound. And sometimes did not give anything. Members of the Soviet government, party and government officials, all of the Bolsheviks carried out on plants rallies, urged the workers to struggle against counterrevolution. At workers' meetings in Moscow and performed by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.
June 21 at a rally in the Sokolniki club Vladimir Ilyich said that our party set out to organize in Moscow as a lot of rallies to draw attention to the situation of the working class in what is Soviet power, and what efforts it must make to win over the exigencies position.
Ferdinand Bauman happened twice to listen to Lenin's speech at workers' meetings. For the first time Bowman saw Lenin's former Michelson factory in June eighteenth year. Lenin then talked about the need for food groups, indicating that the food problem - the most burning question of our revolution, that all without exception, the workers must understand that the struggle for bread - that's their business.
The call of the party, at the call of the leader of the workers, food detachments of Moscow and Petrograd went deep into the country to produce bread that is trying to hide the merchants, kulaks, the profiteers. As part of the food unit left in the neighborhood of Tsarina and Ferdinand Baumann. He commanded a detachment of Joseph Sheynfeld. In sec. Netkachevo team found large stocks of grain merchants in the barns. Decided to deliver all the grain at the station. Fists began to resist. They had to calm down. A poor food detachments helped haul grain to the echelon and rail wagons. For the poor man with a gun was no longer the enemy, and a comrade, friend, protector of the rich, the exploiters.
Bauman also had to serve in the old imperial army, on their shoulders to experience what a drill that is sustainer company that is fear and hatred of the people to a man with a gun. And now, when workers first in the world of Soviet Union began to build a new life, a man with a gun was on guard this great building, in defense of the October Revolution, earned the love and respect for working people.
Ferdinand himself Baumann - son of a worker, a shoemaker, had spent in the studio an entrepreneur for many years. With 15 years of Ferdinand also had to bend back at the factory in the town of capitalist Schaefer Ekaterinenshtadte, Samara province. He was podnoschikom, a longshoreman, carpenter. And after the February Revolution, when discharged from the old army, he returned to his hometown. Even before the October Revolution he joined the Red Guards, led by Alexander Dotts.
Oct. met solemnly and joyfully. Disarmed the local police. Arrested an the police officer and sergeant. Eliminated the district council. Seized the bank, post and telegraph offices, have established the Soviet power. And then all of the Red Guard detachments at the request of the Soviet government went to Moscow to deal with counter-revolutionary forces, raising her head in the spring of the eighteenth year.
After surgery was completed with the loading of grain to Moscow from the station Netkachevo, Ferdinand Baumann in the first Ekaterinenshtadtskogo Regiment went to fight on the Denikin front. All winter the nineteenth year spent in the fierce battles around Kharkov in the Ukraine and the Donets Basin: Bakhmut, Gorlovka Kostiantynivka ... How many cities, towns, villages he passed through with a rifle in his hands, destroying the enemy force! But in a May day Whiteguard shell exploded nearby. Baumann was wounded and zarylo land. He woke up in hospital. And lay there till December.
And then - courses commanders. In the Red Army, he served up to thirty years. But after that he was a military leader in the workers' school. And then in charge of the school the young peasants, and there educated young patriots, defenders of the future country of Soviets.
Communist Party sent Bauman at the most difficult job sites. He did not refuse any order - a collective farm chairman, worked in the political department of the MTS, head of the department of social security executive committee, led the local industry, headed by District consumers union trade department ...
With forty-six years Ferdinand Ferdinandovich Bauman lives in the village Uvelskom. He has long worked in the mine, until he retired.
But the old Bolshevik Guard and now does not know the rest. He still feels like a fighter Party - constantly running in the national squad, three years supervised board retirees and active distributor of books and newspapers. Ferdinand Ferdinandovich often helps people's control committees to check the shops, restaurants, institutions of public services.
Throughout his life, Ferdinand Ferdinandovich dedicated to the great noble cause, which during the Civil War defended with a gun in their hands, for which fought against the enemies of the revolution. The point is - the construction of a new communist society, the construction of people's happiness.
